Tried to write a review about the vaccine clinic here and it was taken down for some reason. The ladies that work the vaccine clinic are judgmental and make you feel uncomfortable when trying to get your dogs shots. They don't tell you that you can't go back with your dog when he gets his shots, they just snatch the leash out of your hand and walk away. Oh and the prices they advertise are incorrect and don't tell you until you go to pay. Would not recommend.

Edit: changed to 1 star after 'owner' response. I never mentioned anything regarding my dogs health other than the vaccinations so not sure why they rambled on for two thirds of the response as if I had brought my dog to the clinic and treated it as a vet appointment. Brought my dog in for vaccines, the ladies at the front were rude because I didn't know which rabies shot he needed and then spoke down to me as if I was a bad owner. Again, the lady that came to get the dog didn't say 2 words to me and snatched the leash as she walked away. I just think that the whole process was really unprofessional and not necessary and would've appreciated a more appropriate response regarding my experience instead of a whole paragraph implying that I was in the wrong.

The staff was so nice. They also made sure that the dog we are adopting was comfortable with us by easing him into our family. And what’s even more amazing they wanted to make sure he was fully done with his training before we finalized the adoption. Some people might of been mad but my family loved handling it that way. We want our dog to be comfortable and happy with us not scared and anxious cuz he was thrown in a new house with new people. At first I was mad about the adoption fee I thought it was kinda pricey but now knowing what they go through to insure each animal goes to a great him helped me understand and I am totally okay with it and they offer a deal if you adopt more than one. Honestly this is the best shelter I’ve adopted from.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Routt County Humane Society. We’ve adopted two puppy mill breeder dogs from Jake. He was absolutely the most kind, sincere, passionate and understanding person in this field that I’ve come across, we all teared up a little bit when talking about the horrific conditions these animals go through their entire life, including Jake. The pain he feels daily for them was clear through his emotions. We’ve used other rescue companies but by far this was an exceptional experience. Jake’s compassion for all of these neglected and abused animals shines through when trying to find the perfect fit and home for all of them. He had incredible patience with us rescue adopters, he takes his time in educating you on their past and what their needs will be to have the most healthy and loving home. He does a complete check on the adopters home life, as well as other animals in the home (meet and greet with them as well) lifestyle of the adopters to make certain they are going to be a perfect fit in their forever loving home❤️ Jake took away from his personal time off to call us for an update on our rescue dogs to make certain they were doing well. Jake has a very emotionally, physically and mentally draining job deciding and doing what is best for every animal that passes through their facility to have the best outcome. Jake, my family and I can’t thank you enough for all you do. We encourage you to reach out to us if you are ever in need of a shoulder to lean on. I adopted from Jake, Tuck, a Boston Terrier that is now my best friend and is (after a few days of being scared) now the most curious, happy, loyal, playful pup I could have ever asked for. He came out of his shell and is loving his life. I had recently rescued a little female Pomeranian that was so abused, neglected and terrified. Tinker Bell and Tucker are Inseparable and they are learning how to be dogs for the first time. My life is now complete. Thank you Routt County humane services and especially a big thank you to Jake.

Best place to find your next amazing companion and give him/her a forever loving home. I got my last dog from here and she is the most beautiful creature I have had the pleasure of loving and spoiling (besides my last dog of course - cannot compare them). The Humane Society also helped me out when I was in a tough situation that rendered me homeless for a short period of time. They took amazing care of her and let me pick her up and drop her off at the end of everyday she stayed there.

The only reason that I gave them four stars is because they were the impetus for my adopted dog to have to have her entire beautiful long tail immediately amputated about a month or two later because they did not explain or answer my inquiries regarding why the end of her tail was damaged in some way, and neither did the vet who spayed her. So she tried to chew off her tail in the middle of the night because she was in so much pain, that I was completely unaware of, otherwise it would have been taken care of the day I adopted her.

The other reason for a dropped star is the fact that I filled out an application to be a volunteer and was shocked and blown away that they turned me down, and suggested that I contact the local woman who rescues wildlife whom I’ve tried to contact so many times, but she is unreachable and never returned any of my calls. I cannot believe they would turn down free help from someone who has a degree in pre-vet, Zoology, am a vet-tech and have worked in a 24-hour animal clinic as one (where I also did all the marketing and PR for their two speciality veterinarian hospitals). My experience includes having volunteered over 700 hours throughout college at the Carnivore Preservation Trust (where I trained tigers),
I completed an internship at the Duke Primate Center and the Denver Zoo, was a trained Docent at the Reid park Zoo, volunteered with native CO species at Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and with big cats and bears at the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center, and fostered kittens from birth and cats post surgery in both Tucson and Texas, and am a verified foster home for Great Danes for a shelter in the front range.

Otherwise, go adopt your next love at the Routt County Humane Society!

Great little place! My family and I were on our yearly trip to steamboat springs. We can't travel with our fur babies and the kids missed them so much. So we went to the local animal shelter and they let us play with the cats and get our "fur fix"... will definitely come visit again in June!♡♡
